On Monday, in the final match of the group stage at the T20 World Cup, the West Indies emerged victorious over Afghanistan by a margin of 104 runs. Batting first, the West Indies posted a formidable total of 218-5, thanks to an explosive innings of 98 runs from 53 balls by Nicholas Pooran. Pooran’s score was the highest individual total at the tournament, and it propelled him past 2,000 runs in T20 internationals. The West Indies sent a message to their future rivals in the play-off stage, with Pooran’s exceptional performance setting the tone.
“There were many important moments, and at the end of the day, it’s all about team success,” Pooran said. “I felt like it was my day, and I had to take the responsibility. When it’s your day, you have to make it your day.”
The West Indies will now face fellow hosts USA in their first Super Eight match on Wednesday. As the tournament progresses, cricket enthusiasts can look forward to more thrilling 100-ball cricket live, backyard cricket, beach cricket, and club cricket matches at the T20 World Cup.
