Freya Kemp to Return as England Women Prepare for Vitality IT20 and Metro Bank ODI Series Against Pakistan
The England Women’s cricket team has named their squads for the upcoming Vitality IT20 and Metro Bank ODI series against Pakistan. Left-arm spinner Linsey Smith has been selected once again after returning to the senior squad for the IT20 series in New Zealand, while Freya Kemp will make her return to the England fold for these fixtures.
Heather Knight’s side will kick off the home summer with a three-match IT20 series, starting at Edgbaston on Saturday, May 11. They will then travel to Northampton and finish the series at Headingley, all of which will be live on Sky Sports. This will be immediately followed by a three-match ODI series against the same opposition at Derby, Taunton, and Chelmsford, also live on Sky Sports.
“Head coach Jon Lewis expressed his excitement for the start of the home summer, stating that it will be a ‘huge occasion’ to play at Edgbaston, where England faced Australia in a Women’s Ashes IT20 in front of nearly 20,000 fans last July. Lewis also highlighted the opportunity for players to secure their place in the World Cup squad, which will be held in Bangladesh in September.”
The England Women’s Vitality IT20 squad includes Heather Knight, Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, Danielle Gibson, Sarah Glenn, Bess Heath, Amy Jones, Freya Kemp, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Linsey Smith, and Danielle Wyatt. The Metro Bank ODI squad features many of the same names, including Tammy Beaumont, Kate Cross, and Alice Capsey.
