England’s Sophia Dunkley Returns for New Zealand ODI Series

England Recall In-Form Batter Sophia Dunkley for New Zealand ODI Series

After impressing with strong domestic performances, England have brought back batter Sophia Dunkley for the upcoming three-match one-day international series against New Zealand. This comes following the team’s recent ODI and T20I series wins over Pakistan in May.

Dunkley, who was initially left out of the Pakistan fixtures to rediscover her form in regional cricket, has been in excellent touch this season. The 25-year-old is the leading scorer in the 50-over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, amassing 293 runs in five innings for South East Stars, including a high score of 130. She has also shone in the 20-over Charlotte Edwards Cup, scoring 194 runs in six knocks with two half-centuries in her last three innings.

“Sophia Dunkley had earned her spot in the squad through her domestic displays,” said England head coach Jon Lewis.

The squad that defeated Pakistan remains largely unchanged, with Dunkley being the sole addition.

The three-match ODI series against New Zealand kicks off on June 26 at the Seat Unique Riverside in Chester-le-Street, followed by games in Worcester (June 30) and Bristol (July 3). All matches will be live on Sky Sports.
