On Sunday, the T20I match between England and Pakistan at Headingley set a new attendance record for women’s cricket, with over 10,000 tickets sold. Yorkshire’s chief executive, Stephen Vaughan, expressed his delight at the crowd’s enthusiasm, describing the atmosphere as “awesome.” He noted that the stadium was filled with people from diverse communities, families, and children, all with “smiling faces.”
England secured a comprehensive 3-0 series sweep, winning the Third T20I by 34 runs before the first of three ODIs against Pakistan, starting on Thursday in Derby and airing live on Sky Sports. Vaughan expressed his hope that the large and engaged crowd would inspire young girls watching to pick up a bat and ball, potentially pursuing recreational or even professional cricket careers.
