Sunrisers Hyderabad Secure Third IPL Final Berth with 36-Run Victory over Rajasthan Royals
Hyderabad, May 25th – Sunrisers Hyderabad’s spinners Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma spun their team into their third Indian Premier League (IPL) final after a 36-run victory over Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed (3-23) and all-rounder Abhishek Sharma (2-24) throttled Rajasthan’s run-chase, limiting them to 139-7 in response to Hyderabad’s 175-9 total. This sets up a final clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, live on Sky Sports.
“Pat used the spinners really well. There was more turn in the second innings,” Sharma said, praising Hyderabad captain Cummins’ tactics. “It is one of my dreams to play the IPL final, and it is coming true this year.”
Hyderabad, the 2016 champions, were put in to bat first but struggled to accelerate in the final overs, posting a competitive total. Trent Boult’s three-wicket burst early on threatened to derail their innings, before Travis Head (34) and Rahul Tripathi (37) steadied the ship.
Heinrich Klaasen’s breezy 50-run cameo down the order provided late impetus, but Hyderabad were unable to fully capitalize on it.
In response, Rajasthan’s Yashasvi Jaiswal (42) led a robust reply, but their top order failed to build on the foundation. Dhruv Jurel’s late onslaught of 56 off 35 balls went in vain as the 100-ball cricket live match ended in Hyderabad’s favor.
The IPL final will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Action on Sunday, along with all four matches of England’s men’s T20I series against Pakistan and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and USA.
