Saurav Chauhan, the 23-year-old sensation from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has been included in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) starting lineup for their IPL 2024 match against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday.
“Exciting talent! Looking at him play, he’s got serious hitting ability, beautiful bat swing and astonishing power,” praised RCB captain Faf du Plessis during the toss.
Saurav, who was roped in by RCB for a base price of ₹20 Lakh during the IPL 2024 auction in December, is known for his explosive batting style. He first made headlines when he struck a 13-ball half century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Arunachal Pradesh in 2023, which was the fastest fifty in the tournament until it was bettered by Ashutosh Sharma of Punjab Kings.
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Saurav scored 251 runs across eight innings at a staggering strike rate of over 182. In T20 cricket, the young club cricket sensation has accumulated 464 runs in 19 innings with a strike rate exceeding 152.
RCB will be hoping that Saurav’s “serious hitting ability, beautiful bat swing and astonishing power” will help them secure a win against the Rajasthan Royals in this crucial IPL 2024 clash. Stay tuned for live updates on the 100-ball cricket action!
