India’s Virat Kohli to join T20 cricket squad after being released from hospital
New Delhi: Virat Kumble, India’s top spinner, will be part of India’s Twenty20 squad after a six-week break, according to the team’s team doctor, Vijay Mallya.
India will begin their tour of England in May, and will face Australia in England in July.
Mallyah, who played for India in the recent World Cup and was also the captain of India in 2014, was at his home in Kolkata for a team meeting with Kumble’s team doctors on Thursday morning.
Kumble’s wife, Sunita, was present in the room when he left the hospital on Wednesday morning, according the team doctor.
He said he was relieved to see the doctor.
Kumble will be the first Indian spinner to play in an international T20 tournament.
He is the highest-ranked spinner in India’s current World Cup squad, but was not part of the team in 2014 when he captained India to a World Twenty20 final win over Pakistan.
Krum, a left-arm spinner who was a two-time India Test captain, is the top scorer in the Indian T20 league and has become a popular figure at the ground.
He has made over 100 Test appearances and has also scored hundreds in a Test and T20 international.
